NDIS - High intensity support skills
Overview
This training provides healthcare professionals and support workers with the essential skills and knowledge to manage bowel care for individuals with complex needs, including those with spinal cord injuries, neurological conditions, or mobility impairments.
The course covers topics such as bowel assessment, manual evacuation, digital stimulation, rectal medication administration, and maintaining dignity and privacy during care.
The high intensity support skills descriptors set out the skills and knowledge that NDIS providers should have access to when delivering complex supports, safely, to NDIS participants.
These complex supports represent some of the highest risks for participants, workers and other, and are areas where NDIS providers must take particular care to source the relevant skills and knowledge to deliver high quality and safe supports.
